Retail chain Blokker will start recycling used pans on Monday. Consumers can now return their pans free of charge at every branch of the chain. With the step, the company hopes not only to sell stuff, but also to contribute to a circular economy, a spokesperson told NU.nl.
The returned pans are 100 percent recycled. “Not only are new pans made of this, but also other products,” explains the spokesperson. The materials of the pans – such as plastic and steel – are processed separately, so that new products can be made. Blokker works together with recycling companies for this.
The retail chain says it is the first company to take pans for recycling. Several municipalities have collection points for old pans, but they can also be disposed of with the residual waste.
By giving consumers the option to recycle pans, the company hopes that they will no longer be thrown away. People who do not buy products from Blokker can also hand in their old pan there.
