Waddinxveen – The Waddinxveense Renate Evertse worked for more than seventeen years in the emergency department in South Rotterdam. In her new book ‘Bloedkind – Hectic at the emergency room, stories from an emergency room nurse’ she has put her experiences on paper.
The book was launched on Friday 25 August. According to the author, it is also an ode to the dead and dying children that she received in her arms and that she has never forgotten. “They live in my heart.”
The book deals with acute care in the present and the past. Speed, expertise, hectic and emotions, that’s what it’s all about. Evertse also says in her stories that she has an eye for the person behind the patient. Some emotions from her working day stay with her and also have an impact at home.
Renate Evertse (1959) worked for many years in the emergency department of a large hospital in South Rotterdam. Due to a medical error, she can no longer practice this profession; Evertse previously wrote the book about this: ‘Robot doctor didn’t have his day…’
