If you were hoping that the return of BlizzCon in 2023 would mean the event would once again be an annual celebration of all things Blizzard Entertainment, we have some bad news for you.
The California developer has confirmed that BlizzCon will not return this year, and that he will want to appear at special events that were already planned for this year. Gamescom will be one of those events in August, but of course we can expect some Blizzard news at the Xbox Games Show in June as well.
“Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing more information about our upcoming launches later this year, including World of Warcraft: The War Within and Diablo’s first expansion IV, Vessel of Hatred. together in new and unique ways, we’ll be sharing some exciting plans soon for trade shows and other conferences like Gamescom.”
Blizzard confirmed that some esports events are taking place around the world this year, including the Overwatch Champions series in Dallas and Stockholm, and it is also planned. “multiple global, personal events to celebrate 30 years of Warcraft”. Details of these plans have yet to be confirmed.
However, this does not mean that BlizzCon is dead, as Blizzard said “We are so excited to bring back BlizzCon in the years to come.”
