The American company is cooking a new title and it has nothing to do with Overwatch 2. Several details indicate that it is an FPS.

It seems that Blizzard Entertainment is working on a new game and it would be an FPS. We find out about this through the job requirements they are looking for. The US company is hiring employees to work on an “Unannounced PC / Console Project.”

It can be concluded that the new project is not related to Overwatch, since Overwatch 2 was already announced and is already being developed for a while. Additionally, there is an Overwatch-specific task force search on the Blizzard website.

Why do we deduce that it is an FPS? If you go in to read the details of, for example, the position for “Associate or Mid-level Combat Designer”, Blizzard explains that “they are looking for a designer with FPS design experience to design and implement mechanics for a multiplayer project”. You will also find the following requirements:
- Ability to communicate the design vision and align the vision within the team.
- Player with extensive and extensive experience with FPS and action games, both single player and online.
- Demonstrable programming or scripting skills.

To this is added that Blizzard absorbed Vicarious Visions early 2021. This particular move is very interesting, as Vicarious Visions collaborated with Bungie Studios in the development of Destiny 2, the FPS that was the second best-selling game in 2017.
With this strong buzz on the table, we wonder if Blizzard will be able to compete in the FPS gaming market with the possible new title, as it already did with Overwatch. Likewise, nothing is confirmed yet, and there may be course changes within the project. We will have to wait for the official announcement from Blizzard.
