Fletcher even accuses the Diablo 2: Risen subreddit from being part of a scam. According to Fletcher, the administrator of the subreddit posted false information about one of those fraudulent giveaways. Then the administrator permanently banned Fletcher when he informed people about the fraud. Said administrator also edited the post with a confusing spiel asking Blizzard to terminate Fletcher’s contract.
According to Fletcher, the only way to participate in any of Risen Technical alphas is to register at diablo2.blizzard.com. Any other website is likely to be fraudulent. It may also be a good idea to stay away from the subreddit for now. A Twitter user reported on the subreddit, but it’s unclear if or when Reddit administrators will take official action. And, as always, people should exercise caution when disclosing personal data and contact information online.
Diablo 2: resurrection is the next remaster of the classic Blizzard dungeon crawler. It also includes all the content of the game. Lord of destruction expansion. Developed by Blizzard Entertainment and Vicarious Visions, Resurrections brings many graphical enhancements to the twenty-one-year-old classic. Updates include improved effects, animation, and 4K monitor support. The developers also redid all the Diablo 2 cinematics in HD. Other updates include Dolby 7.1 surround sound and cross-progression between supported platforms. The game will also support PS5 haptic feedback.
Blizzard will release the single-player technical alpha first, in the hope that fans can have a say on the balance issues. The studio plans to release the multiplayer alpha later as a stress test of the game’s multiplayer infrastructure. Blizzard hoped that releasing the alphas would also keep fans engaged and allow the company to test the waters of public interest.
Given the enthusiastic response to both alphas, it’s fair to say that many gamers are very excited about Diablo 2: Risen. Unfortunately, it is that same enthusiasm that fraudulent websites are taking advantage of.
Diablo 2: Risen Releases later this year for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S.
