Blizzard Says Overwatch 2 Servers Are Undergoing “Massive DDoS Attack”
Blizzard says Overwatch 2’s servers are suffering from a “massive DDoS attack” that prevents players from accessing the newly launched game.
Players have reported unexpected server errors and difficulties joining Overwatch 2 games throughout the evening following the launch of today’s free-to-play, with some claiming to have queues of up to 40,000 other players.
And Previous Tweet From Blizzard president Mike Ybarra, he acknowledged the server problems today, but didn’t suggest they could be the result of something else that could cause problems throughout the day, thanking players for their patience and vowing to “get [them] for fun”.
However, Ybarra now has a Tweet to follow Which suggests that Overwatch 2’s launch today is impacted by third-party malware. “Unfortunately we are seeing a massive DDoS attack on our servers,” she wrote. “The teams are working hard to supervise / manage. This is causing a lot of downtime / connection problems “.
Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 dedicated social channels remain less informative. Server issues going on for tonight were briefly noted in Post on popular topics Immediately after launch, but no further updates have been shared yet.
I will update the story as it develops.
