Blizzard Entertainment’s “Overwatch 2” to Release on Steam: A New Chapter for the Popular Game Studio

In the past, most of Blizzard Entertainment’s games that you want to play on your computer can only be played through the “Battle.net desktop application”. However, as Blizzard Entertainment recently announced that it will try some new things, one of the things is that several of its games will soon be available on Steam, and “Overwatch 2” will be the first to debut on August 11 (Taiwan time).

Many games under Blizzard Entertainment will be on Steam, “Overwatch 2” will take the lead in August

Blizzard Entertainment’s previous works such as “Diablo”, “Decisive Moment”, and “StarCraft” series are popular among many players, but due to various factors such as sexual harassment and gender discrimination scandals, Blizzard Entertainment’s reputation and evaluation are not as good as before, and it is on the road to Microsoft’s acquisition of Blizzard. It is currently waiting for the permission of the British and American regulatory agencies.

In addition, if you want to play Blizzard Entertainment’s games on your computer, you can basically only use the “Battle.net desktop application”. However, rather than simply playing in this application, more players prefer to play on Steam. Finally, in Blizzard Entertainment’s recent announcement, it was confirmed that several games will be available on Steam. The first game is “Overwatch 2”.

According to the announcement: “Blizzard’s philosophy is to listen to players and strive to exceed player expectations in all things.” Blizzard Entertainment president Mike Ybarra said. “Battle.net is our priority, now and in the future, but we know players want to play a range of Blizzard games on Steam. Therefore, Overwatch 2 will be available on Steam first on August 11 (Taiwan time). We’re excited to be working with Valve to make this happen.”

However, Blizzard Entertainment emphasized that in order to provide cross-platform play and more functions, Steam players still need to connect “Overwatch 2” to their Battle.net account; and players who have been playing through Battle.net can still play as usual without any adjustments.

Overwatch 2 is now available on Steam, and you can wishlist the game to be notified when it’s released.

The free game “Overwatch 2”, which will be the first to be released on Steam, had mixed reviews before. However, after the news that Blizzard Entertainment’s game will be released on Steam, the most enthusiastic response from many players was actually “I can finally leave a negative review.” It seems that Blizzard Entertainment’s idea of trying new things seems to be full of unknowns.
