It’s no secret that Blizzard Entertainment is a bit of the developer it used to be. Various legal issues and cultural issues that have been poorly handled from the executive level have come to light over the last few years and have devastated the company, to the point where developers have left in droves. And the way Blizzard hasn’t tackled the issue has caused its current developers to become frustrated, as is the case with World of Warcraft producer Adam “Glaxigrav” and senior game designer Allison Steele.
The first took to Twitter to state: “Being tough about it because I’ve lost *someone else* this week.
“Blizzard lost incredible talent because someone in power didn’t listen to the game directors who made their products. DE&I also means diversity of thought, especially when backed by data and finances.”
Glaxigrav went a bit further to add: “I just wanted to make video games. I wanted to make a critically acclaimed amazing best seller. I wanted to make *better* Dragonflights. I wanted to make a *better* experience.
“Can’t do that if we get rid of everyone who made it.
Final thought: “some talent” spoils the point.
“We’re making a crisis map of what we can or can’t deliver. THAT is the loss of capacity we’re dealing with.
“I literally have a schedule that I cross out when people notice.”
Steele later commented on Glaxigrav’s thoughts: “forced [kembali ke kantor] has cost us some amazing people and will continue to cost us more in the months to come.
“This is a terrible, shortsighted, self-destructive policy that only weakens our ability to deliver the kind of play we want to make and our players deserve.”
