The developers will include more support heroes in one of the major changes to the Overwatch 2 beta.
The strategy of Blizzard with Overwatch it seems a different one. Perhaps I have exaggerated a bit, but there is something of that: Overwatch -the first- went from winning the 2016 Game of the Year gradually lose players. The developers didn’t give the game the attention it deserved and it got a bit stagnant. The guys at Blizzard, aware of this, have decided to pay more attention to the players. Proof of this are the Overwatch 2 beta changes which will be implemented soon.
The main feature of this patch is the improvement of support heroes. As can be read on the company’s own website, the intention is to increase their number and make them tougher:
During the Alpha, we noticed that support heroes they fell very easily […] We made a substantial change in the Beta, allowing them to recover health faster and improving their survivability […] But we know that this is not the only problem. We have heard that support players have less choice than tanks and DPS. We think the best way to fix it is by adding more characters […] in addition to change and modify some existing skills.
But this is not the only change in the Overwatch 2 beta. They have also talked about ranked games and queue times. They say:
We decided to focus only on quick games for two reasons: first, because in a test with a limited number of players we chose the matchmaking speed than divide them into long queues; and second, because we plan many changes at the core of our competition, and these are not yet available for testing.
It is not very clear when these changes will be implemented, but it should not take long. The test lasts until May 17, so there is not much left.
