Blizzard co-director leaves her post after just three months • Eurogamer.net

Mike Ybarra will be the sole leader of the company.

Jen Oneal, who joined Blizzard as co-director of the company last August, has announced that she is leaving her position and will be leaving Activision at the end of the year to explore “how I can do more to create an intersection between video games and diversity.”

Oneal, who previously directed Vicarious Visions, the studio responsible for Crash Bandicoot’s N. Sane Trilogy, was hired as Blizzard co-director alongside Mike Ybarra, after the departure of its former president, J. Allen Brack. The latter left during the initial uproar over the complaint by the State of California about discrimination within the company.

“I’m not doing this because I have no hope for Blizzard,” explained Oneal in your farewell statement, “but the opposite. I have been inspired by the passion of everyone who works here, fighting for meaningful and lasting change.”

“This energy has inspired me to get out there and explore how I can do more to make video games and diversity intersect, and I look forward to making a broader impact on the industry that benefits Blizzard and other studios. I’m still not sure how. will have, but I’m looking forward to starting this journey to find out. ”

Mike Ybarra will therefore be the sole president of Blizzard from now on, a decision “effective immediately.” Oneal, meanwhile, will move to a new position within Activision before leaving the company entirely at the end of the year.
