Blizzard announces Overwatch 2 release on Steam and future Blizzard games coming to the platform

In the name of not paying the 30% commission which in some popular and super successful projects can indeed translate into huge sums of money, this is the reason why at one point in the story of the game industry there were so many publishers desperately trying to popularize their own launcher instead of using Steam. We’re talking policies that even lead to exclusive releases that don’t make Steam a platform option. But who would have thought that Steam’s power was so great, that none of these policies worked. Even some of them are now finding their way “back”.

One of them is of course Blizzard. After the decision to bring Overwatch 2 to Steam in August 2023, Blizzard has come up with even better news for gamers who still rely on Steam as their main platform. The president of Blizzard – Mike Ybarra emphasized that Overwatch 2 is just the beginning for more Blizzard games to Steam later. There is no information yet about what game they will bring afterward, but it is certain that it will still require a Battle.net account to be able to sample it.

This of course is also happy news for Gabe Newell and Valve considering Blizzard’s giant and popular titles will visit Steam later. How about you? Which Blizzard games are you looking forward to on Steam?
