According to a recent report by the Brazilian media The Enemy, the renowned video game company Blizzard Entertainment has fired almost all of its teams responsible for the Latin American and Brazilian region. Only the general manager of marketing in the region would have kept his position with the company.

According to the sources, Blizzard has undergone a restructuring in its regional operations and has closed the majority of duplicate operations with Activision. A Blizzard spokesperson contacted The Enemy regarding this information and commented on the following:
“Structural changes have been made, thinking about how we can better serve our players and deliver our games to them in the most efficient way now and in the future.”
It should be emphasized that these layoffs and restructurings do not imply that the company will cease its operations in the region, indeed, all press representatives will continue to function normally both in Latin America and in Brazil.
But these changes aren’t just limited to our region, as all of Blizzard’s small teams are shutting down. Recall that Blizzard recently laid off dozens of employees in its esports and live broadcast division, in a number that was initially reported as a total of 50 layoffs, but according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier these layoffs would equal 2% of the workforce of Blizzard, which translates to 190 people laid off from their jobs.
Activision Blizzard had originally announced that the layoffs were 50 people in the esports/live events departments but the real number appears to be much higher. Person familiar says it was less than 2% of total staff (2% would be around 190)
