/ world today news/ Acting Deputy Prime Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva will head the Energy Board, it is clear from the draft decree that the Council of Ministers must adopt in September.
The Energy Board will analyze the state of the Energy sector and the causes leading to the instability of the energy system, will propose principles and guidelines for sustainable management of the sector and will discuss and propose measures to solve the identified problems in order to stabilize the energy system . The board will give opinions on the activities and measures undertaken by state bodies and organizations in the field of energy, will make proposals for changes in the regulatory framework in the field of energy and discuss and give opinions on proposals for strategies in the energy sector. It will hold regular meetings at least once a month.
Zaharieva will be the chairman of the board, and the deputy chairman will be the Minister of Economy and Energy Vasil Shtonov. Among the members of the Energy Board there will be one Deputy Minister of the Economy and of Labor and Social Policy. The board will also include the chairman of DKEVR and one representative each of the three ERPs, BEH, NEK, ESO, representatives of the RES sector, “Maritsa East 1” and “Maritsa East 3”.
The board will also include representatives of the nationally represented trade union and employer organizations, as well as the Association of Heating Companies in Bulgaria and the Association of Electricity Traders and the Bulgarian National Association of Consumers. Representatives of the General Directorate “Energy”, the European Commission, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development may also be invited to participate.
