U.S. officials said that due to growing concerns that the conflict between Israel and Hamas will escalate into a regional war, Secretary of State Blinken will depart on the 4th for his fourth visit to the Middle East since the war with Kazakhstan began.
Agence France-Presse reported that unnamed US officials revealed that Blinken is expected to leave Washington for a visit to Israel on the evening of the 4th. The official did not provide other details about the trip, but Blinken visited several Arab countries on previous trips to the Middle East.
This will be Blinken’s fourth visit to the region and fifth visit to Israel since the Palestinian armed group Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 last year, triggering massive retaliatory actions.
Hamas’s second-largest figure, Eluri, was killed in an attack in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on the 2nd. The outside world suspected that Israel was responsible, triggering people’s concerns about the spread of war.
Iranian people commemorated the fourth anniversary of the death of the late Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander Soleimani on the third day. Two explosions occurred at the memorial ceremony, killing at least 84 people. Iranian officials named the United States and Israel as those behind the attack, signaling they would retaliate, although the United States denied any involvement.
Israel and Iran have been sworn enemies for many years. After the outbreak of the Israel-Kazakhstan war, there was a surge in related violence by Iranian-backed militias in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
There have been numerous deadly exchanges of fire on the Lebanese-Israeli border, and U.S.-led coalition forces have been attacked in Iraq and Syria.
So far, the Middle East has been able to avoid a more intense and widespread war, but the Iranian bombing has shocked global markets, causing international oil prices to rise by more than 3 percent.
Shipping in the Red Sea region, which is vital to global trade, has also come under attack. Twelve countries including Britain, the United States and Japan issued a joint statement on the third day, strongly demanding that the Yemeni anti-government armed organization “Youth Movement” immediately stop illegal attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea and release illegally detained ships and crews, otherwise “you will bear the consequences” ”. Countries that have joined the joint declaration include the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and New Zealand.
Countries stressed that the joint statement was a clear “warning” to the “youth movement”. The statement pointed out that the “youth movement” deliberately attacked civilian ships and naval vessels without legal justification.
