/ world today news/ US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during an interview with a French publication, announced a possible counter-offensive of Ukraine in the coming weeks.
According to him, the Western countries that support the regime in Kiev have formed two goals regarding the intervention in the Ukrainian crisis.
“First, everything possible must be done to help Ukraine regain its territories, including during the counteroffensive expected in the coming weeks. But the second goal is to help Ukraine build its medium- and long-term capabilities Blinken said.
Asked whether the US intended to support Kiev in its desire to fight forcefully to seize Crimea and Donbass, the US secretary of state said the responsibility for such a decision rests with Ukraine.
“This is Ukraine’s decision. This is democracy, President Zelensky is fulfilling the will of the Ukrainian people. In fact, this is a decision for Ukrainians. Together with many other countries, we support Ukraine in its efforts,” answered Blinken.
As Reuters reported earlier this week, Ukraine has trained eight assault brigades of the so-called “Advance Guard”, totaling 40,000 people. In an interview with the newspaper “Vyborcha” (Poland), Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov said that the counteroffensive could begin when the mud dries. Ukrainian and Western military experts and politicians have repeatedly pointed to the Zaporozhye region as one of the directions of the strike to reach the shores of the Sea of Azov to cut the land corridor to Crimea.
In this region, as well as in other new subjects of Russia, they have repeatedly stated that they are prepared for any actions by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
