US Foreign Minister Antony Blinken arrived in Egypt on Sunday for a whirlwind tour amid rising Israeli-Palestinian violence, with the slim hope of using US influence to try to ease tensions.
During his stopover in Cairo, before Jerusalem and Ramallah on Monday and Tuesday, Mr. Blinken will meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi as well as his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Choukri. Egypt being a historical intermediary between Palestinians and Israelis, the situation in the Occupied Territories will be on the menu of the discussions.
