Jerusalem: Rain is a blessing in Gaza where the Israeli forces continue to attack. Heavy rain fell in the area on Tuesday while Israel is denying basic needs including water and food. The footage of children happily walking and playing in the rain has gone viral on social media.
One child responded, ‘When Israel withheld water from us, it rained from the sky.’ Media including Al Arabiya TV shared the video of the child collecting water on their Twitter handle. ‘Praise be to Allah. O people, Allah made us drink with rain. Allah knows that we are in trouble. He has rained down on us.’ – said the boy. Meanwhile, some relief camps were damaged due to wind and rain.

The World Health Organization estimates that a person needs 50-100 liters of water for drinking, cooking and cleaning. But an average person in Gaza gets only three liters of water for all domestic needs. Local residents rely on brackish water from private wells and desalination plants. The UN Office of Humanitarian Affairs said most refineries had stopped operating due to lack of fuel.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization reported that 22 out of 36 hospitals in Gaza have stopped working due to lack of fuel. Officials said that the functioning hospitals have only resources for essential services.
11240 Palestinians have been killed so far in the 39th day of Israeli attacks. Of these, 4630 are children and 3130 are women. More than 29,000 people were injured. 70 percent of them are women and children.
