BLBI Task Force Seizes The East Tower: Recovering State Assets from Bank Asia Pacific

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Task Force for Handling State Claims on the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance Fund (BLBI Task Force) seized The East Tower building located on Jalan Mega Kuningan Ring Road, Setiabudi, South Jakarta.

BLBI Task Force Chair Rionald Silaban said the confiscation, which was carried out on Monday (24/7/2023), was a form of recovering state assets from obligor Bank Asia Pacific on behalf of Setiawan Harjono and Hendrawan Harjono. Setiawan Harjono is an in-law of former chairman of the DPR RI Setya Novanto.

In accordance with the Confiscation Warrant issued by PUPN DKI Jakarta Branch, the BLBI Task Force confiscated The East Tower covering an area of 8,247 m2 owned by PT Gentamulia Infra, together with 177 flats above it with a total area of 26,715.59 square meters (m2), and an estimated asset value of IDR 786 billion.

“The confiscation was carried out on the building of an apartment unit owned by the ‘Party Obtaining Rights’ as stipulated in Government Regulation Number 28 of 2022 concerning Management of State Receivables by the Committee for State Receivable Affairs, namely PT Gentamulia Infra,” said Rionald, in his statement, Monday (24/7/2023).

However, Rionald explained that the confiscation was not carried out on apartment buildings that were already owned by third parties other than PT Gentamulia Infra, namely 77 apartment units with a total area of 20,265.76 m2.

He further said that the confiscation of The East Tower was carried out as part of the state’s efforts to recover BLBI funds that had been disbursed to banks during the monetary crisis some time ago.

The BLBI Task Force together with PUPN will still take further legal action, if the obligors of Bank Asia Pacific on behalf of Setiawan Harjono and Hendrawan Haryono do not fulfill their obligations, including by carrying out an auction of these assets.

“The BLBI Task Force will continue to make ongoing efforts to ensure the return of the state’s claim rights through a series of efforts, such as blocking, confiscating and selling the obligor’s and/or debtor’s assets which are collateral or other assets owned by the obligor and/or debtor,” said Rionald.
