Blatný is preparing a new vaccination strategy, younger people will also come next

Vaccination strategies will change. People working in key infrastructure could be next in the next round of vaccination. However, the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES) has not yet said who it will be.

“In the next group, there will be people who are younger. Their morbidity will be taken into account there and there will gradually be a selected infrastructure. We assume that it will be during the month of April, depending on how they deliver vaccines,” he said. head of the department at a press conference.

“I think that very high-quality studies should be prepared, which would say that if we do that, we will put some older years at risk, but on the contrary, we will ensure the smooth running of the state,” said evolutionary virologist Jiří Černý.

The head of the medical chamber, Milan Kubek, is convinced that the biggest problem in the Czech Republic is the lack of vaccines. “But if we want to reduce the number of dying to a minimum, then we must first and foremost vaccinate the elderly, high-risk residents, cardiac patients, cancer patients. Everything else is a compromise,” he said.

On the contrary, according to some experts, it is important to vaccinate employees from key infrastructure.

“The main criterion is to minimize loss of life, but of course economic costs should also be minimized. By the time we vaccinate only the oldest fellow citizens, we will of course reduce waste on human health, but we will have a big impact on the economy. therefore, it is important that we vaccinate the people we need in the basic infrastructure so that there are no major impacts on our economy, because that would then be reflected in the quality of health care, “said economist Štěpán Křeček.

And we should not forget the industries that are important from the position of the Czech Republic in foreign trade. “Once we lose our position in foreign trade, it will be difficult to conquer again,” Křeček added.

According to a renowned economist, one day of the strictest lockdown can cost the Czechia up to four billion crowns. The President of the Czech Medical Chamber Kubek would not preferentially vaccinate teachers. But when they are vaccinated, it is also necessary to think about vaccinating children.

“Especially in the last month, the infection has been spreading rocket among children. In recent days, it has actually been 1,000 children a day,” said Radek Sarkozy, head of the Pedagogical Chamber.

“We know that there can also be serious consequences and even deaths in children, but at the same time that there are also late consequences and children are very often asymptomatic carriers,” warned virologist Ruth Tachezy.

It is said that all registered vaccines have already started studies in the pediatric population. “Astra Zeneca also includes younger children between the ages of 6 and 17, while Pfizer and Moderna now target the over 12 category,” added Tachezy, adding that companies could have results in the spring or summer.

The use of the vaccine in children will then have to be re-approved by the European Medicines Agency for safety reasons.

In some hospitals, vaccination is also new on weekends:
