Good morning from Virginia. Like every year, our little report from our beautiful homeland, the USA. Unfortunately, the year 2022 has been very rare in highlights. But one was definitely a visit from one of my best friends from high school. It’s been 25 years, abnormal how time flies! He flew to us in the Commonwealth for the first time in the summer and we showed him a bit of our homeland.
Visits to US restaurants and malls
In addition to the capital with the National Mall, the surrounding area with the palaces was also worth a visit. Of course we also visited some American malls and restaurants. Standard tourist program for every German. We celebrated Independence Day together with our friends, with a swimming pool, barbecue and a large personal fireworks display. It doesn’t get any better than this! Many hundreds of miles on the road followed to destinations like Philadelphia, Rocky and Atlantic City. The Big Apple has finished it.
We drove through the streets of Manhattan in my V8 convertible and had fun together. Shopping, 90’s Black Music and the Fifth Rooftop Bar, to name a few. In addition to the normal tourist destinations, I also showed him the surrounding neighborhoods outside Manhattan, which are very difficult to reach without a car. It was just a great time! We are very happy if you come back. I love you Sebi!
This summer my wife spent a few weeks in Germany because, among other things, her little nephew Romeo has started school. A “must see” event, but unfortunately I could not attend this big event due to work. A small consolation were the many videos and photos, and this made me feel “present”. Dear Romeo, I look forward to many interesting stories about your new stage in life when we meet again soon. Meanwhile, I spent my summer at work, in the pool and in convertibles on the streets of the USA. We celebrated my birthday with our clique yesterday and it was again a highlight. The group is just fun. We laughed, drank, ate and planned our pre-Christmas trip to Germany and Europe in 2024.
Thanksgiving begins a journey
I can’t say it enough, we love you guys. Thanksgiving is next week and my wife and I will start our vacation and another trip that day. Among other things, we will visit our friends in Florida and escape the cold season in Virginia. Since Olli has season tickets for the Buccaneers, he’ll likely attend an NFL game again.
This time I also get to sing karaoke with wrestling legend Hulk Hogan at his bar in Clearwater. In a month it will be Christmas again, and my parents will come to visit me, because unfortunately I won’t be able to travel to my home country this year either. This saddens me because I would have liked to see my friends in Germany again. But the postponement has not been cancelled, because the plan is for summer 2024.
Christmas in Germany
So folks, fire up the grill! But I am very happy to see my parents again and we will have fun again this year. I am proud that my parents are still so fond of travel and make the trip to the US every year. Maybe you should even move to the USA, it sure wouldn’t be a wrong step if you follow the cruel developments in Germany. My wife, on the other hand, will go home alone again this year and spend Christmas with her family and use the time to see her friends again. With that in mind, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. During this period, forget about negative events in the world and devote yourself entirely to your loved ones!
