It has been a week where music has become more important than ever, and the fact is that the occasion deserved it. The question that all Spaniards have asked ourselves the most: Who will represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023? already has a first and last name: White Dove.
This Saturday February 4th the Benidorm Fest closed its doors with a heart-stopping final. A night in which the eight finalists would take the stage to delight us with their songs, but in which only one person could get their ticket to Liverpool. As our LOS40 correspondent, Alberto Palao, told us, the staging, charisma and the way of understanding that Eurovision is more than singing well, made the woman from Alicante crown herself as the great star of the night.
We had no doubts after seeing her performance on Thursday in the second semifinal, but this Saturday Blanca left us speechless again with her song Hey, yeah. The subject is a reference to a lullaby in which he wanted to pay homage to his grandmother Carmen. A flamenco sound that marks a before and after in terms of Spain’s proposals for the festival. And it is that, it is very different from what we have to the public accustomed to, for this reason, the great doubt arises: will this song be understood in Europe?
Blanca Paloma has no doubts
After her staging where she has managed to take over the stage and become the great favorite of the night, Blanca Paloma has attended the press conference called by RTVE and has spoken with the media present there, among others, ours.
“I think that outside of Spain flamenco is also very much loved. Flamenco belongs to everyone and is universal“, he explained. “I think we do it from a place that is very much ours. Wow, we look back and drink from that flamingo fountain that is infinite, but We have taken it to our land and we have made it our own.“, he stressed.
Blanca Paloma has had no doubts and has confessed that “with truth and authenticity she gets to where she has to go and pinches. I hope that Europe has its chest prepared and that it stands up for hey hey por bulería”.
Will you keep the staging?
A play of shadows to start the choreography, moving on to a fan of lateral palms. This, without a doubt, is what most characterizes Blanca Paloma. A staging that she has managed to fulfill her objective: not stop looking at the screen!
The artist also wanted to reveal during this press conference and stated that she is very happy with her staging and that if it is for her, I would leave it as it is for the Eurovision Song Contest.
