Blade: The Edge of Darkness is an action role-playing video game that first arrived in 2001, it was developed in Spain and over the years it has made countless From Software fans consider it the true precursor of Dark Souls. AND its remastering, Blade of Darkness, has just leaked its arrival on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It has been discovered thanks to the Exophase portal, in which its list of achievements and trophies for the PlayStation and Xbox consoles has appeared. Until now, it was only available on PC and Nintendo Switch. Do we remember what it was like?
Blade of Darkness: a timeless classic
We have to look back to the year 2001 to remember the arrival of Blade: Edge of Darkness (that was its name back then), an action adventure with exploration mechanics and RPG elements in which the hardness of combatthe cryptic nature of finding the way to advance and the degree of violence that it presented, have ended up giving rise to the fact that the bulk of the followers of Dark Souls —and From Software in general— attribute the role of precursor of the formula to the title of Spanish origin.
The game was developed by Rebel Act Studios, a team that closed its doors shortly after launch. To give you an idea of the talent that was studied, a handful of its members followed their path separately and over the years have worked on numerous renowned works such as Call of the Sea, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow or RiME, among others.
The original game achieved an average rating of 9 out of 10 on Steam, a platform on which the remastering has been available since October 2021 and will now land on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
