Blade Air Mobility successfully carried out its first test flight in New York, marking the first time that an eVTOL has flown in the metropolitan region of this state.
This is BETA’s ALIA-250 EVA, a vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, which was designed by the company Beta Technologies to transport cargo or passengers in metropolitan areas. The flight happened in White Plains, New York, on February 14.
According to statements made by Rob Wiesenthal, CEO of Blade, this flight is a historic milestone for the company and for the urban air mobility industry, in addition, it is an important step in the transition from helicopter manufacturing to Blade’s vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
“We are confident that the EVAs will be a game changer for both our company and the New York City transportation system once they are certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA),” Wiesenthal added.
