In Austria around 1500 people develop bladder cancer every year, around 400 of them women. These suffer from the form of cancer less often than men, but when diagnosed they already have a significantly higher tumor stage and a worse prognosis. There are many reasons for this, explained Shahrokh Shariat, Head of the University Clinic for Urology at MedUni Vienna.
