A first for the Moulay El Hassan Ben El Mehdi regional hospital in Laâyoune. The structure carried out a urological surgical operation which consisted of a total cystoprostatectomy with enterocystoplasty in a sixty-year-old patient suffering from bladder cancer.

This surgical operation, which involved the removal of the cancerous bladder in a patient with replacement by his own intestine, thus marked a turning point in the management of urological cancer pathologies in the region of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra in particular and in the level of the southern provinces in general.

This complex and meticulous procedure not only effectively treats cancer, but also offers the patient a surgical solution that preserves a normal body appearance.

The operation lasted approximately 8 hours, requiring extreme surgical precision and in-depth expertise from a multidisciplinary team coordinated by Professor Mellouki Adil, bringing together intensivists, anesthetists, and general surgeons, as well as paramedical and administrative teams.
