South Korean girl group BLACKPINK is staying together. The four members of the successful K-pop group have all signed a new contract with their label YG Entertainment, it was announced on Wednesday.
The members’ contracts had already expired in August. Since then, there has been plenty of speculation online about the future of the group.
The girl group is by far the biggest act signed by YG Entertainment. The company’s share rose sharply on the stock exchanges after the news about the contract extension became known.
BLACKPINK debuted in 2016. The girl group has become one of the most successful K-pop acts in recent years and is also popular worldwide. The four members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa scored hits together such as How You Like That, Kill This Love in Pink Venom.
Last month, the members received a royal honor from British King Charles. According to the British court, BLACKPINK members “encouraged millions of young people to participate in the UN global conference on climate change and the topic of climate action.”
