Blackpink has 60 million subscribers on its YouTube channel

SEOUL, Apr 13 (Yonhap) – K-pop girl band Blackpink now has more than 60 million subscribers on their YouTube channel, a world first for a girl group or singer. Blackpink overtook Ariana Grande last July in YouTube subscribers and only Justin Bieber (62.4 million) remains ahead.

According to an announcement from his production house, YG Entertainment, the number of subscribers on Blackpink’s YouTube channel reached 60 million on Tuesday at 6 a.m. Since July 2020, the increase in the number of subscribers has been clear. Eminem, Ed Sheeran and DJ Marshmello were overwhelmed.

“Justin Bieber’s subscriber count crossed the 60 million mark about 11 years after the creation of his YouTube channel, so Blackpink’s subscriber growth is impressive,” YG Entertainment detailed, adding that “the placement in head has entered a visible area ”.

The K-pop girl band that debuted in 2016 is also known for the number of views its music videos have on YouTube. Among which, the video clip for the single “How You Like That”, released in June 2020, crossed the 800 million views mark last March. Last February, the music video for his “Ddu-du Ddu-du” surpassed 1.5 billion views. “Kill This Love” is over $ 1.2 billion.

YG Entertainment pointed out that “(this growth) in the number of subscribers is proof of the interest and hope of loyal fans and does not come from mere curiosity or fleeting viewing of the content” .
