Blackouts in South Holland and Utrecht, problems partially solved | General

Some 45,000 connections in parts of the provinces of Utrecht and South Holland have been without electricity since 00:15 on the night between Wednesday and Thursday. A spokesman for network operator Stedin says technicians have managed to restore power to 9,000 customers.

For the 35,000+ connections that are still out of power, we’re trying to fix the issues there as well. “We expect it to take some time. Yes, then you really need to think about a few hours,” the spokesperson said.

The cause of the failure is a broken TenneT high-voltage line. People are reporting on Twitter that there is no electricity in Gorinchem (South Holland) and Vianen (Utrecht), among others.
