According to letters obtained by sports site The Athletic, the team have indicated that they are prepared to pay John Doe 2’s “past and future consultation fees”, but without taking responsibility for the acts committed by its former employee.
Recall that John Doe 2, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was a victim of Aldrich when he was employed by a Michigan high school in 2013. The former instructor was found guilty of sexual assault and spent nine months in prison.
Now prosecuted in this case, the Blackhawks have reportedly asked through their lawyers to have access to the medical records, transcripts and income records of John Doe 2, in order to “better understand the claims and injuries” of the victim.
“For me, it is inhumane to say that you have to see a child’s notes and medical records after they have been sexually assaulted, in order to justify how to compensate for them,” he said. Beach attorney Susan E. Loggans at The Athletic, Thursday.
Mediator
The Chicago team’s defense is also said to disagree on how to compensate Kyle Beach and requested the intervention of a mediator on Thursday, without reaching an agreement with the player’s lawyers.
“I am quite disappointed that they sounded out our request for compensation and then completely screwed up all efforts to settle the matter without a mediator. It’s always the same with them. They try to control everything for their benefit. It’s not fair, ”said Loggans.
For now, the Blackhawks would like to reach an agreement before reaching a trial in court. They must renew the motion to dismiss by December 14 in order to continue the process outside the courts.
Me Loggans hopes that the judge will rule on this request in order to be able to prepare for a trial for John Doe 2. She believes that the lawyers of the Blackhawks have already spoken to all the witnesses, while her camp was not able to do.
