Black Widow is doing very well so far and is also a special project. Not only is it one of the first times a superheroine will have a solo movie, it’s also the first movie in the MCU to be directed entirely by a woman. director Cate Shorland thinks this is about to change.
The director also sees this as an opportunity for other female talent to get started at Marvel. For example, Shortland says: ”I think women should step in now, to kick the door open for other women. If we don’t take action, not much will happen”.

The same is true for non-white people, according to Shortland. Thus she continues: ”We may face different challenges, but I think it is important that a space is created that we can use. We have to prepare these for other people”.
