Or NASAa Nova survivor, told about the failures they experience with the government bodies: “I have a friend here with me who stopped working two and a half months ago because of a post-traumatic attack she experienced. A psychiatrist diagnosed her with PTSD following the party, she submitted letters to the National Insurance and they didn’t approve her. We went through something wrong here Normal, we are not ordinary survivors, we live it every day and suffer from it.”
“We as traumatized survivors do not need to talk to the National Insurance, the hardest body in the country. You expect us as people who don’t sleep at night, don’t get up in the morning, can’t work, to fill out such and such a form now, it ruins the day for us. I tried to determine An appointment with a psychiatrist after six months, why is the next appointment only five months away.”
Guy Ben Shimon, a survivor of Nova, warned: “There are close to 50 suicides, this is a number that was true about two months ago, there are many who are also forcibly hospitalized. I personally still don’t leave the house. I don’t see how next month when the Tatarstan is over I can go back to work. I saw people open from bullets and women screaming their lives until they died, it takes time to digest what you went through.”
In response, the representative of the Ministry of Health in the discussion, Dr. Gilad Bodenheimer, asked to “be careful with the numbers”, and said: “Numbers were said here about amounts of suicides and hospitalizations – we know individual numbers.”

Yuval Raphael, another survivor, told about the difficulty with social security. She told about the ordeal she went through, and criticized the difficulty with the political institutions: “I found myself in a shelter on road 232 to Bari with 50 other people. Unfortunately, I was surrounded by corpses in every part of my body. With a specific corpse I hid whenever terrorists came, I was bleeding from everywhere. I held her cheek to mine and that’s how I defended myself so that if a bullet hit me, it wouldn’t be in the head. I kept calling the police. I hid for 8 hours, in the last two hours I stopped calling. Unfortunately, terrorists came to shoot me again and again.”
“Does anyone have a doubt that I’m going to deal with this all my life? So why is one of the things that all survivors are going through right now is National Insurance committees to receive disability percentages? The minimum for recognition for life is 20% disability. Why is it universally, automatically, for the next year, every The survivors don’t get the minimum? Why do I have to go through the 07.10 war? It’s a war, to go in front of judicial authorities to get the minimum. I have quite a few friends who got less than 20% in this committee I can fight wars, I didn’t survive for the sake of not living. So why do I fight for my country and my country does not give me the minimum and I have to fight against it as well.”
Naama Eitana Nova survivor, shares her personal experience: “My average number of hours of sleep per night varies between 2 and a half and 3. One of the hardest things I experience during this period is that my sense of security was not restored. For 7 hours I hid under a tree when terrorists passed by, I called the police at noon and all the policeman had to say was I’m sorry, I can’t help you and ended the call with a good day.”
She continued, “I was afraid to get out of bed, to go out on the street, to this day I don’t walk around alone. I need treatments, I need an outline, if it wasn’t for my psychologist I wouldn’t be here. I have friends who still haven’t returned to work, who don’t get out of bed, who haven’t received treatments. 24 treatments have passed, I’m already behind, and what now? Why do I have to prove what happened to me and beg for treatment? All the first months the state was not there, there were volunteers. When you make decisions, look at me, at us.”
Initiating the discussion, MK Karin Elhrer: “These are thousands of young men and women who are the next generation of the State of Israel. There was a government decision about two months ago. It was decided that the survivors would be given centralized answers through the Ministry of Welfare. What happened since then? Whatever we don’t deal with today, we will meet squarely and on steroids in a few years. Instead of spiraling them into unemployment, give them what they deserve. I expect that a country that failed to reach its citizens at the time of the massacre will reach them now and torture them.”
Hadas Nir Kofflerspokeswoman for the “For Life” association, which deals with suicide prevention at the national level and in helping families whose loved ones have committed suicide, also responded to Guy Ben Shimon’s words: “The For Life association constantly monitors the number of suicides in Israel. As of today, and according to an examination with the authorized authorities, it appears that there are A number of individual suicide cases among the Nova survivors are certainly not dozens.”
“On the other hand, every case is painful and tragic, and everything must be done to prevent suicides from among the survivors in general. A tender for the appointment of cattle for suicide cases was issued very recently and we expect it to be staffed soon – so that there will be less doubt as to the number of suicides and it will be possible to respond in real time. Knowing the scope of suicides is always necessary , and especially in times of crisis,” she added.
