Carrie Bernans, ‘Black Panther’ actress, was seriously injured after being hit by a car in New York on January 1, which she said on social media this Wednesday has affected her “physically and mentally.”
“I am honestly hurt physically and mentally. The only thing I can think about is my son. I hate that I have to see myself like this and suffering,” she said on Instagram after thanking her followers for their support and messages of love.
Bernans, 29, was seriously injured with fractures and broken teeth after a driver crashed into the terrace of the Chirp restaurant in Manhattan.
Her mother, Patricia Lee, revealed this Monday on Instagram a series of photographs showing some of the injuries the actress suffered and mentioned that her daughter was left unconscious and immobilized under a food truck during the accident.
“I am mentally confused, but I entrust myself to God during this suffering. From the respirator they put down my throat to the operation on my butt, through the bruises on my head and everything else, I don’t know where to start,” the interpreter continued.
Bernans was one of several people injured as a result of a police chase that occurred in the early morning hours of January 1. The man identified as responsible is 44 years old and was fleeing from the police at the time of the accident.
The driver is hospitalized and in critical condition and was charged with attempted murder, reckless endangerment and driving while intoxicated, according to information from US media.
Bernans had a role as a member of the Dora Milaje fighting force in the Marvel film ‘Black Panther’ and was a stuntman in the musical version of ‘The Color Purple’, which premiered on December 25.
