Delight- Without sufficient surface water, the agriculture of the Irrigation District 005 will collapse in this 2021 cycle, the excessive cost that it will have will make production in the different crops unaffordable, as stated by Manuel Márquez Campos, regional leader of the National Agrodynamic Organization (OAN), who added that the option of using deep wells will not be viable either due to the high costs of electricity charged by the CFE.
The agricultural leader stated that the cause of more than 50% of the 2 thousand 325 producers registered in the PEUA program in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader), were not registered because they do not have wells but rather with electrical outlets that are used for re-pumping surface water from channels, pits and drains.
He commented that given the lack of water from dams, many of the farmers will not need to be in the PEUA because there will be no liquid to re-pump, in addition that many of these do not have knowledge that they are creditors of this benefit because the Sader has few personnel and he does not notify them, according to what Márquez Campos announced.
This problem is also being suffered by the irrigation modules that are proposing to increase the price of a thousand as well as the well hour.
In this context, with the vital liquid becoming more expensive, the situation is complicated because it is not affordable to sow, since 32% is for fertilization, 30% for agricultural diesel, 28% for electricity (with PEUA program) and 26% for financing, for so for every 100 pesos of the value of the harvest, 120% are already committed and a loss of 20% is projected in advance. Manuel Márquez, stated that notwithstanding the meetings with federal and state officials, including with the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, they have not responded to the farmers of the field, who given the outlook that is looming will not be able to pay the Federal Electricity Commission and confrontations could be presented for this reason.
