It has been common for years that a multiplayer beta is held prior to the release of a new Call of Duty. This way fans get the chance to test the games, while the developers collect data in order to improve the experience and optimize a lot of things. The past two weekends there was an open beta of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and it now appears to have been quite popular.
Activision has announced that the multiplayer beta of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the most downloaded beta ever in the history of the franchise. Unfortunately, the publisher does not report exactly how often the beta has been downloaded, but it is a nice achievement nonetheless.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be released on November 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC. When the PlayStation 5 comes out here in Europe on November 19, the shooter from Treyarch and Raven Software will also be immediately available for Sony’s next-gen console.
