The dream of the championship has been over for the Black Forest Foxes since last weekend. The 13:24 (4:10) defeat at league leaders Red Knights Tübingen last Saturday meant that the team from Dietersweiler is now three wins behind the Tübingen team (16:8) with 12:8 points and two games left in the season. Second place in the table, which qualifies for relegation and is currently occupied by the Kornwestheim Cougars (18:4), is also as good as gone.
The Foxes only stayed in the league on the final day of the previous season, and in this round they secured a comfortable season without relegation worries with six wins in a row. The last home game at Auf der Birre is now on Saturday (3 p.m.). Opponent: Tübingen again.
Time for revenge and to show once again that the Foxes can keep up with the top team. They showed that on Saturday, when the result was more clear than the game actually was. “We threw a lot at the beginning,” said Tübingen coach Stefan Schmitt, “and it actually worked out quite well, but then we couldn’t really assert ourselves. So you use the tactic that works.” The tactic that worked was Martin Weber. The Foxes will have to get him under control.
Finally, there will be a few activities in Dietersweiler on Saturday: a bouncy castle, for example, and discounted tickets for fans in club uniforms.
