Münstertal The cattle drive has been celebrated in Münstertal for over 30 years. Traditionally decorated, the animals went to their winter quarters.
A large herd of cattle has returned from summer pasture to the Black Forest community of Münstertal. Cattle decorated with forehead wreaths were led to their winter quarters in the valley. The traditional cattle drive is also the reason for a weekend folk festival in the community in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district.
63 animals from 14 farms spent the summer on the so-called Brandenweide in the Spielweg district. As pasture warden Marc Böhler reported to the German Press Agency, there were no major problems despite periods of heat in the summer: “There was enough water for the animals. We didn’t have a single vet visit.”
With a view to wolf attacks on grazing livestock in the southern Black Forest, Böhler summed up the Brandenweide: “It has remained quiet this year.” The Stuttgart Ministry of the Environment had only confirmed a few days ago that a she-wolf had killed three sheep and four goats in the municipality of Feldberg (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district). ) had torn. In the southwest there was first clear evidence of a wolf pack in June.
