BK Häcken brought in Chilufya on loan this summer from Danish side Midtjylland. Djurgården also tried to sign the speedy winger, which Djurgården’s sporting director Bosse Andersson told about in the Fotbollskanalen’s deadline-day broadcast.
– We have had contact with Chilufya. We think he is a good footballer who we would have liked to have seen in Djurgården, Bosse Andersson told Fotbollskanalen at the time.
The choice fell on Häcken. Now the 24-year-old talks about his thoughts about the move and that he would have liked to return to Djurgården himself.
– Yes, I would have preferred to return there. That’s where I come from, but football is football. You never know what will happen in the next step. Djurgården never made an offer, he says Sportbladet.
However, Chilufya does not seem completely down about having ended up in BK Häcken and believes he fits well into the team’s way of playing.
– I had different offers so I wanted to be careful with my choice. I wanted to come to a team that suits my way of playing, says Chilufya to Sportbladet.
The national team striker from Zambia has not managed to secure a starting place in Central Jutland. He has scored six goals and provided three assists in 61 competitive games for the Danish club, 19 of which were starts.
Chilufya’s contract with Midtjylland extends to 2026. He belongs to BK Häcken on a loan that extends to the end of the season. Chilufya played in Djurgården 2018-2022 where he made 62 matches.
