Kollam – BJP state general secretary P. Sudhir said that the luxury resort in Thangassery where Chinta Jerome lived is a benami property of CPM. Some leaders of the party are also involved in the ownership of this resort and demanded to find out who these benami are.
The resort was originally owned by another person. Corporation had not given permission for the resort. The Corporation then refused permission citing the Coastal Management Act and the Antiquities Protection Act. Later, this resort was bought by the current owner and the resort that we see today was built. Minister M.V. After Govindan personally reached and discussed with the municipal authorities, permission was given to the resort. The CPM should clarify why the top leadership intervened to build the resort which was denied permission by the corporation. BJP will go ahead with strong campaign against this.
