BJP leader Khushbu Sundar is facing backlash for a 2018 tweet in which she suggested that the meaning of “Modi” should be changed to “corruption”. The tweet resurfaced after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was sentenced to two years in jail and disqualified from parliament for defamation, stemming from his alleged remark at a 2019 election rally implying that PM Modi is a criminal. Sundar, who was a member of Congress at the time of her tweet, has since joined the BJP and said that the tweet was made “while following the leader and speaking the language of the party”. Some Congress supporters have called for Sundar to be similarly charged with defamation.
