Here is Abba-Björn Ulvaeus’ powerful tribute to Tommy Körberg.
Order in TV4’s “Malou meets” leaving the singer speechless.
Tommy Körberg celebrates this summer his brilliant career, which includes 50 years on stage, with a big Swedish tour.
Then he travels around the country with his “Grand Finale” show, which is described as a summary of the artist’s career. The tour will start in Örebro on July 5 and the final in Gävle on August 24.
Throughout his career, Körberg has collaborated with several of Sweden’s and the world’s biggest artists. For example, who does not remember this classic duet with Celine Dion?

Yes, the stars have indeed lined up to work with the man with the unique voice. In Benny Andersson’s orchestra, Körberg has sung together with Helen Sjöholm and Kalle Moraeusto Abba-Benny’s piano notes.
Körberg also played the male lead role Anatoly Sergievskij in the big hit musical “Chess” which was staged in London and played for several years at the end of the 1980s. The musical was written off Tim Rice together with Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.
When Körberg visits on Tuesday the program “Malou meets” in TV4, the channel has prepared a surprise for the star.
The host Malou von Sivers reads a greeting directly from Abba-Björn to Körberg.
Ulvaeus’ words to Körberg read as follows:
– He is undisputed Grand Old Man among Swedish singers. The Master! There is no one to touch him, everyone knows that. The steel in the voice that gives the mighty, Körbergska the sound has not existed among Swedish singers since Jussi Björling. It has been, and will be, I hope, a favor to put words in his mouth and then hear them sung.

When Malou reads the statement to Tommy, the star gets something in his eyes. He falls silent, and von Sivers notes that those are nice words from the Abba star.
Körberg:
– Yes! But he is also a master at writing, says Tommy in TV4.
He is noticeably moved by the words, and at the same time lights up with a big, warm smile after hearing Abba-Björn’s fine tribute.

Körberg also talks in the program about how much he appreciates receiving praise from his audience. He is also grateful to have a career in music.
– Gratitude that I get to do what I knew since childhood that I would do, I think. And then, it sounds so flat, but then… when I stood in Carnegie Hall (concert hall in Manhattan, New York, ed. note), it was a tribute to Birgit Nilsson. When I was standing there singing “Anthem” and the crowd didn’t know who I was or anything. But you can see on their faces that “oh, what did I hear?”. Then it was uplifting, and then you walked out of there and felt: “there it was!”, he says in TV4.
During 2024, Körberg is also current in the role of Gottfrid in the “Änglagård” musical at the Oscar Theater in Stockholm.
“Malou meets” will be broadcast on Tuesday 23 April at 21.00 on TV4 and TV4 Play. What do you think of the program? Please write a comment!
