At 19.36 on Saturday, the police tweeted about a building fire in Nevlunghavn in Larvik.

Østlandsposten could later in the evening report that it was the holiday home of Anna Helene Kjos-Mathisen and her husband that was on fire. She is the daughter of the former Norwegian boss Bjørn Kjos.

Freelance photographer Geir Eriksen arrived at the scene shortly after the fire alarm went off.

– Had my dad and my cohabitant not been so energetic, the house would have burned down, Anna Helene Kjos Mathisen told Eriksen. She also boasted of the locals who flocked to with powder machines.

The fire chief brags about the family

Fire Chief Erik Walin at Larvik fire station also praises the family.

– The fire was almost extinguished when we arrived. The family had done a great job. They had torn down walls and started the fire with powder devices. Had they not acted so quickly and been so energetic, it could have gone really bad, Walin says to VG.

He says that a pipe fire was first reported.

– The alarm to the security company rang and alerted us. It quickly turned out that it was not a chimney fire, but a fire in the wall by the kitchen. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, he says.

Everyone was checked out of the ambulance after being exposed to smoke.

– All good with me, said Bjørn Kjos, according to Eriksen.

HEALTH CHECK: Bjørn Kjos was routinely examined by ambulance personnel.

The family explained to the freelance photographer what had happened.

– According to them, they were cooking and had things in the oven. They thought that was where the smell was
came from. They took everything out of the oven, but the smell persisted. Then they understood that it had to be something else, he says to Østlandsposten.

Then they saw smoke coming out of the wall.

– It was both in the kitchen and in the living room, says Eriksen.

– The most expensive home of all time

The local population must have flooded in with powder devices.

– Local people helped tear down a wall.
The holiday property is a gem along the coast and the couple bought it last year for 26 million kroner. Østlandsposten has written that it is the most expensive home ever in Larvik.

The home is over 400 square meters and is locally better known as the property Solvika and the house Solfjeld. The nature plot is 30 acres.

– Scary

Anna Helene Kjos-Mathisen tells VG that it was scary.

– Wonderful neighbors, my dad and my husband put out the fire. Fortunately, Solvika did not burn down, but it was scary, she says.

Bjørn Kjos does not want to comment on the case.

In a text message to VG, he writes that there is nothing to make a mess of.

“We put out a fire that started. Not much more to say about it ».
