Bjørn Eidsvåg will participate in Every time we meet

In January 2023, a new season of the TV show 2 “Hver gang vi møtes” will return to Norwegian TV screens, something many are looking forward to.

Among the participants we find a ringed fox from the sector, aka Bjørn Eidsvåg (68). Eidsvåg joined Musik-Norge more than 50 years ago, but refused to join the program for twelve years. He now he finally gave the thumbs up.

– He was anxious

– I agreed to participate this year because I suddenly realized that new generations have arrived who have nothing to do with my music unless their parents played it. Emma Steinbakken, for example, was not born when my perhaps biggest hit – “Mysteriet deg” – came out, she tells Se og Hør, and elaborates further:

– It was a little girl who told me that I had to be involved “because then your songs are interpreted by young people with whom we have a relationship, and therefore we also relate to your music”. So if that can mean my career can get a few more years or an extra boost, then that’s great.

The artist adds that this year he was able to look away from the fear that had previously kept him from participating, but that he still knew it would be challenging.

– I put aside the fear of being so close to people for so long, or not being able to cover other people’s songs. I was a little anxious about that, and besides, I know it’s a lot of work. It’s a lot more work than people realize, and it goes on all the time.

– I was so tired when I got home from this “school camp” that it took me three full weeks to recover, so it’s challenging.

It had to be taken away

Recording of the music program has long since ended, but when asked if there’s anything the 68-year-old fears the rest of the country will see on TV, he can reveal that action has been taken in the editing room.

– I’m afraid to see if, for example, I say stupid things, or if I seem pedantic and become such a stupid grown man that he should say something wise. I don’t want to fall into that trap.

– I eradicated it in the episode that concerns me, there I had more discretion, so both my wife and I carefully examined it and removed what I consider unsightly.

Eidsvåg believes that his wife has a sharper eye than he does, and so he has been collecting things that were originally supposed to be included in the program that he himself didn’t think should be eliminated.

– When I’m sitting in the middle of it, I think it must be okay. Then I’m more open and down to earth and think “that’s nothing dangerous to talk about.” But then she wakes up and points out that this involves more people than me.

Beforehand, Eidsvåg and his wife, Ragnhild Idsø, had agreed that he should not share private things involving others.

– We went through the episode and she said “this needs to stop” and “we shouldn’t include this”, and then I completely agreed. These are personal things, but suddenly you forget where the line is and then the press is happy, he laughs.

Now he can’t wait for the rest of the country to see what he, Emma Steinbakken (19), Karoline Krüger (52), Kristian Kristensen (30), Ingebjørg Bratland (32), Freddy Kalas (32) and Isah (23) they worked with.

– People can see and judge for themselves, but I think there’s so much great and musical stuff here that it’s weird if people don’t enjoy it.
