“By the end of March and the beginning of April, the country will have greater availability of vaccines, since it is expected that 180,000 bivalent vaccines and 72,000 pediatric vaccines for children between 5 and 11 years of age will enter. We reiterate the call to the population to come to get vaccinated and avoid getting seriously ill “ added the Director of Surveillance of the Ministry of Health, Rodrigo Marín.
Bivalent vaccines against COVID-19 include a component of the original virus strain and a component of the omicron variant; they are used only as a booster for the fourth and fifth doses once two months have elapsed after receiving the third and/or fourth dose, as appropriate.
Some 36 private clinics and pharmacies have joined the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 since December last year, becoming another alternative for the population that still had or is still pending one or more doses of their vaccination schedule.
The authorities also recalled that the Costa Rican Chamber of Health, through its affiliates, offers the possibility to companies to vaccinate their collaborators completely free of charge and with the intention of providing greater vaccination coverage in workplaces, companies , workers associations, free zones, organizations and other similar groups.
