The Florida Financial Regulatory Authority (OFR) accused cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex of violating state laws by filing a pre-bankruptcy complaint against it.
According to court documentsthe platform mixed client assets with operating capital and did not fulfill obligations in the required amount.
“The decision on which of these violations to present in our administrative complaint is entirely within the authority of the Office,” the regulator’s assistant chief legal officer said.
From October 2022 to March 2023, OFR worked with agencies in other states to investigate the company.
April 17 Florida Financial Conduct Authority did exchange complaint. On the same day, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit against Bittrex and Bittrex Global in connection with violations of the law.
Some time later, the company filed a motion to dismiss the litigation with the SEC, stating that the agency does not have the authority to regulate cryptocurrencies.
Recall that on March 31, 2023, Bittrex announced the termination of work in the United States, and on May 8, the company filed for bankruptcy.
