Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Tesla is one of the electric car manufacturers targeted by the Indonesian government to invest in opening offices in the country. But it turns out that recently Malaysia reported, Tesla will open an office in his country.

Regarding this, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan spoke up. He also admitted that he had no problem with it.

“Offices anywhere can be built,” said Luhut quoted on Saturday (4/3/2023)

When asked whether Tesla would invest in Indonesia, Luhut was apparently still optimistic.

“We are still, don’t we,” he said.

Luhut also asked to wait about Tesla’s plans to invest in Indonesia.

“Yes, please wait. If it will be announced on Monday or next week it will be announced regarding EV incentives (electric vehicles), then I will speak later,” he said.

As previously reported, Tesla Inc. Elon Musk’s company will open an office in Malaysia. This was revealed in a tweet by the Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul Aziz on his Twitter account.

Not only that, Malaysia will also allow Tesla to import into neighboring countries. Including opening a showroom, service center and supercharger network

“Malaysia welcomes @Tesla,” tweeted Zafrul when monitored by CNBC Indonesia.

@MITIMAlaysia (ministration) has approved Tesla’s application to import BEVs into Malaysia. Tesla will establish Headquarters, Tesla Experience & Service Center and Supercharger Network.”

Tesla’s presence in Malaysia is also expected to create skilled jobs. Including increasing the participation of local companies in the Tesla ecosystem.

However, it is not yet clear when Malaysia will officially open an office in the neighboring country. Quoting Reuters, Elon Musk’s company representative also did not respond to a request for comment on this matter.

In Indonesia, the government will offer incentives to the United States (US) automaker, ranging from tax breaks to concessions to mine nickel.
