The statement from Beijing comes amid a dispute over Taiwan, when the US announced a $100 million deal to supply weapons to Taipei to service the Patriot air defense system.
Taiwan has ruled itself independently since the end of China’s civil war in 1949. However, Beijing regards the island as part of China’s territory.
Meanwhile, Taipei stated that Taiwan is an autonomous country with political and economic relations with several other countries.
While the US does not recognize the government in Taipei, Washington’s relations with Taiwan have improved over the past few years.
Top American officials have previously visited the island and some reports suggest that US troops are training Taiwan’s military.
