Bitter derby defeat in Düsseldorf | Haie.de

We lost 7-1 in the derby at Düsseldorfer EG. Louis-Marc Aubry scored the only Haie goal of the day.

Our team needed something to get going in the sold-out Düsseldorf Dome. Proof of this was a solo effort by Clark after just 62 seconds, which Tobias Ancicka was able to parry confidently in the Haie goal. AfterwardsßIn the end we got better and gained more and more shares in the game. Alexandre Grenier from the slot, Nick Bailen from behind the goal line and Gregor MacLeod on the counterattack also had good chances to score, but were unable to finish them profitablyßen. Even Håkon Hänelt was unable to score Cologne’s well-deserved lead on a two-on-one counterattack. We had our best opportunity of the first half in the 19th minute, when Alexandre Grenier tried to pass to Justin Schütz with a nice cross pass, but our striker with the number 10 on his shirt couldn’t get the ball to the target. Consequently, the first break went goalless.

There we initially survived being outnumbered before we caught upßThe majority again had good results. But in many actions our team lacked the last bit to achieve a truly dangerous or profitable finish. On the other side, DEG struck twice. Clark used a disc that jumped off the crossbar to give Düsseldorf the lead, before Agostino was able to extend it just 25 seconds later. As a result of this double strike from the home team, we had a bit of a hard time. Tobias Ancicka even saved us from conceding a third goal with an important save in the 37th minute. Shortly afterwards he was powerless. Geitner scored from the high slot to make it 0:3 from the KEC perspective.

Our team was therefore challenged in the final section. But it was the Düsseldorf team who scored again. Ehl made it 4-0 in the 45th minute. Some hope briefly arose when Louis-Marc Aubry scored the first Haie goal of the day two minutes later – but it was only to be a consolation goal. In our opinion, the home team increased the score in the final minutes to make the final score 1:7.

• Niklas Lunemann was in the squad to replace the ill Mirko Pantkowski. The young goalkeeper wore the Haie jersey for the first time this season and came on as a substitute for Tobias Ancicka in the 53rd minute.
• With 5.32 kilometers, Justin Schütz covered the most meters for us.
• We scored our only goal of the day after a nice combination in the majority.

“We knew it would be a difficult task today. We knew that the first goal in this derby today would be very important. We created good chances in the first third, had a lot of time on offense, but couldn’t capitalize on it. In the second third, Düsseldorf scored the important first goal and immediately followed up in the next change. We joinedßend tried to fight back, but we didn’t succeed. The result at the end is of course very bitter. It was a day for us where we weren’t where we wanted to be for many reasons.”
