Frosty night at the end of a too hot November
Temperatures in Switzerland have dropped significantly. Down to minus 16.4 degrees was measured in the Engadine.
Bitter cold greeted early risers on Sunday morning. In the foothills of the Alps and in the Alpine valleys, the values have dropped well below zero. In Samedan in the Engadine at 7 o’clock in the morning minus 16.4 degrees was measured and in Thun in the Bernese Oberland it was still minus 3.8 degrees.
In Ulrichen in the Valais the thermometer showed minus 12.9 degrees, in Andermatt in the canton of Uri minus 12 degrees, SRF Meteo reported on Sunday morning.
In the lowlands the temperatures were close to freezing. And the forecasts for Sunday did not promise upward jumps: fog is probable in the Mittelland with a maximum limit of 700 metres, locally even 800 metres. Under the partly tenacious gray fog, you hardly expect more than 4 degrees.
According to SRF Meteo, due to the widespread fog and increasing cloudiness, little sunshine is expected in the lowlands for the next week.
