Bissafi Dotte: “Playing against Zlatan would be my biggest dream”

Zapping Foot National Top 10: the most loyal players in Ligue 1

His beginnings in football

“I was born on July 2, 1999 in Neuilly-sur-Marne in the 77. My father and my mother have always loved football very much. I often played with my two brothers when I was little. I remember that I have I waited impatiently to be five years old to be able to start playing club football. I started out at the club in my city, Champs-sur-Marne. But in my department, the flagship club is US Torcy. I went there in sport-study from the sixth grade. After school, I had to go to training. I stayed in Torcy until the end of my third year. It was going well, I didn’t have much choice, it was strict (laughs).

Central Africa

I am 100% Central African! My mother was born there, my father grew up there. At home, it speaks the language of the country. Since I was little, I eat a lot of dishes from the Central African culture. I have regular contact with the managers of the selection. There are only a few details left to work out. I hope this can be done very quickly, from 2022.

“Kylian Mbappé, he was quickly upgraded!”

L’AS Monaco (2014-2017)

It was another world compared to what I had known. I especially realized with hindsight. Going from Torcy to Monaco is a shock (laughs). The requirement is much higher. We have to be more serious and rigorous. In terms of monitoring and supporting young people, it’s incredible. The club takes care of everything: plane tickets, seats for the family… I was lucky to be part of a generation that included many Parisian players. So I knew most of them. It is true that it could facilitate my integration. Even today, we are like brothers even though we have all taken different paths.

Kylian Mbappé

I played with Kylian a bit in my first year. Afterwards, he was quickly upgraded (laughs)! I knew he was going to break through, he was already exceptional despite his very young age. In technique and liveliness, he was above the rest. For me, it already has no limit! He is world champion and I quickly see him winning the Ballon d’Or.

Amiens (2017-2018)

I had signed an aspiring three-year contract in Monaco, which was not renewed. One of my former coaches, Manuel Dos Santos, told me that Amiens was interested. I gone ahead. Unfortunately, it didn’t go too well. Still, I felt good on the pitch. But there were some disagreements. For example, I had to undergo an operation at the end of the year after an injury. For its part, the club did not want me to have an operation! Afterwards, I don’t want to find excuses for myself. But I think it must have played out. At the same time, I did a year in STAPS. It was really difficult to follow the lessons because I was really into football. Especially since I sometimes trained with the professionals. When I had to leave the club, I took a little hit. I was very disappointed.

Meaux (2018-2019)

I had the operation in April 2018. So I came to Meaux, near my home, to get back in shape. I wanted to use this experience in N3 to bounce back. Individually, it went well. I found rhythm and a good level. Meaux, it was a good springboard that allowed me to land in the United States.

“PSG, my favorite club”

I could have joined another team, but I had such a hook with the club coach… His speech was sincere, and the club’s project ambitious. I had to adapt because I didn’t speak English at all at the start. It was complicated at the start but I was able to count on the presence of Thibaut Jacquel, who was already there, and Franck Momo, who arrived at the club at the same time as me. I am not a shy person. I am sociable and I go out to people. I think it helped me fit in. Regarding the level of university football, it is close to the N2 in my opinion. University clubs aim to qualify for the national championship, where there is a very good level. In February, the best players who arrive at the end of their schooling can register for the draft to why not sign in an MLS club.

His ambitions

I would clearly like to be drafted into an MLS franchise. This is my main objective. I feel like this is the right time for me to turn professional. I need some stability. I do not close any doors. A return to Europe is therefore also possible.

His profile and his examples

I am a leader in the field. I communicate a lot. With the ball, I like to break lines. I think I am calm and solid. However, I would need to improve my left foot. Before, I watched a lot what Raphaël Varane was doing. But at the moment, it’s Virgil van Dijk who inspires me the most. He is complete: he knows how to play in intervals, his long game is excellent, he is impassable, he is a leader… He has everything!

His dream club

If tomorrow I have the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams, I will join PSG! Since I was little, it has been my club of heart. It would be incredible (laughs)!

His legendary eleven

In goal I’ll put Edwin van der Sar. Right, Daniel Alves. In central defense, I will choose Van Dijk to accompany me (Bissafi had the obligation to be included in his eleven, note). On the left side, Marcelo. I will opt for a three-way environment, composed of Sergio Busquets as sentinel, Zinédine Zidane and Andrés Iniesta. In attack, it’s complicated (laughs). Messi on the right. Cristiano Ronaldo on the left. Soon, it will be Mbappé in his place (laughs). And at the forefront, Zlatan Ibrahimović, who has been my idol since his first stint at AC Milan. Playing against him would be my biggest dream. He has some crazy qualities for his size, and a unique personality “.

to summarize

At twenty-two, Bissafi Dotte has no more time to waste. The one who rubbed shoulders with a certain Kylian Mbappé at the AS Monaco training center is now playing at the Campbell Camels, an American university team. In the short term, he would like to integrate an MLS franchise. Interview.
