/ world today news/ The Bulgarian singer and composer Biser Kirov, popular throughout the former Soviet Union, refused to accept the Ukrainian “Man of the Year” award. He sent a letter about this to the organizers of the award. The famous performer told “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” why he did so. /Russian. ez./
“They awarded me, but I can’t accept it,” says Kirov. – My refusal of the award is humanitarian, not political. I watch how people die every day in Ukraine. I am shocked by Kyiv’s position. President Poroshenko announces mobilization, wants to gather more than a hundred thousand soldiers who will have to fight not with some enemy, but with their own people. And Poroshenko himself flies to Zurich to talk about peace negotiations there. This is madness! Yatsenyuk goes to Germany and says that the Soviet Union attacked Ukraine and Germany. This is nonsense!
I will not stop singing “Chervona Ruta” and “Don’t joke in the evenings.” I will remember the beautiful city of Kyiv. My soul hurts for the people of Ukraine, an incredible country where Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Moldovans, Greeks, Russians, Tatars – more than 70 nationalities – lived peacefully. Now it’s all bombed. Nationalism has become the most important; it is forbidden to speak your native language. And then they are surprised that someone wanted to secede!
If I can wish something for the Ukrainian people, then I want to wish them peace. So that they fraternize, hug and find their peaceful solution.
All normal people in Bulgaria are very sensitive to the events in Russia and Ukraine. It’s a pity that lately there has been a stream of Russophobia coming from our (ed. – Bulgarian) screens. But I am sure that this is demonstrative, paid propaganda. We have already had such periods, we have survived them, and we will also survive this theater of politics.
Russia is a huge part of my life, and I take everything that happens in it to heart.
My letter is my slogan “Stop the war!” If it helps to stop the bloodshed at least to some extent, I will consider this the main thing accomplished in my life. It’s scary to be “Person of the Year” in Ukraine, when so many thousands of children, civilians, and soldiers are dying there.
